When Barack Obama won the presidential election 8 years ago, a lot of people had hopes that American society would take a turn for the better. I believe that he did his job, as best he could, and that the rest of us could have done better. In his victory speech, he said,
In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let’s resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.
This is what he hoped for months before he became President. And in his recent speech accepting Donald Trump’s victory, he showed the same kind of character. It is a superb speech, so I recommend that you check it out. If you do, you will understand why a lot of Americans would like to have Obama be president for another 8 years.
